A comprehensive examination means a complete evaluation to determine your level of seeing at both near and far distance as well as peripheral vision and depth perception checks. It will also include dilation which enables the doctor to clearly see the inside of your eye. There are many serious eye conditions that are symptom free, or not noticed initially because vision changes are nearly imperceptible. Yearly comprehensive exams provide peace of mind and allow you enjoy your best possible vision at all times.
According to the American Optometric Association, comprehensive eye examinations are generally recommended to be yearly. If you are in very good health, less often may be appropriate. However, keep in mind that vision conditions and changes can come on suddenly. When they are detected and treated early, the effects can be significantly diminished. Our doctors will be happy to advise you on the best schedule for your eyes.
